About the atelier

Software for you, built without compromise.

Maréchal-Winthrop is a boutique software company that spent years building for a handful of clients, with a single guiding principle: that software should work for the users that own it. Billion dollar companies harvest your data, scatter your attention, and sell your secrets for ad tracking. The marketplace is flooded with products that promise everything and deliver nothing. We believe there is a better way, and that we can return to a time when product design centered the user.

We started with one client.

Maréchal-Winthrop began in a single room, building one piece of software for one client who valued performance and taste over scale. Years later, we still ship on our own schedule, and still code by a single principle:

If a feature doesn't make the user's life better, then it is a waste of time.

How we work

01

Performance comes first

Your time is too valuable to waste waiting on a computer. That's why we spend ours optimizing out every millisecond.

02

Streamlined around you

Building products that center the user and their needs, not technology-first buzzwords.

03

Made to last

No dark patterns, no data harvesting, no planned obsolescence dressed up as an update. What you use is yours, and it's built to keep working.

On craftsmanship

"We don't ship features by the roadmap quarter. Every decision is made for the person who has to live with it — sometimes months before a single line is written."

No growth hacks. No engagement loops. No monetizing your attention while calling it a free tier. Exclusivity was never a marketing device for us — it was the only way we knew how to build something worth using, unlike the multibillion-dollar platforms built to harvest your data and enrich their shareholders.
